Shimla, March 2 – Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has ordered a statewide crackdown on drug networks, declaring zero tolerance against drug peddlers and government employees involved in the trade.
Key Directives from CM Sukhu:
- Government employees found involved in drug smuggling will be dismissed.
- Properties of drug traffickers and their associates will be attached.
- Bank accounts of suspects will be investigated.
- Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) to be strengthened.
- Special Task Force (STF) headed by a senior police officer to be formed.
- Pharmaceutical companies involved in illegal drug trade will face FIRs and license cancellations.
The Chief Minister also announced the introduction of the Himachal Pradesh Anti-Drug Act in the upcoming Budget Session, which will legally differentiate between drug peddlers and victims.
Meanwhile, in Punjab, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema stated that the Aam Aadmi Party government had intensified its war against drugs, focusing on cutting supply chains across the state.
With these aggressive measures, both Himachal Pradesh and Punjab are stepping up efforts to tackle the drug menace threatening the region.
